Back in Algeria

Back in 2002, I had the opportunity to cooperate with the Algerian National Agency for the Promotion and Rationalisation of Energy (APRUE) on energy labelling for refrigerators and freezers. While it was good to see the labels in the shops on my return to Algeria in 2019, I realised that the Algerian standards & labelling programme for energy-related products needed a renewed compromise under the Programme ‘Taka Nadifa’, to which I contributed for more than two years, proposing a comprehensive strategy for the development and implementation of energy labelling and minimum energy performance standards (ecodesign). Working with nice colleagues and visiting Algiers and other places provided some additional flavour to my return to ‘El Djazâir’.
